Meet Wrigley

This is the newest addition to our family. His name is Wrigley, and he is 9 weeks old. He is a yellow/white lab.

Last weekend I went to Des Moines to go boating with my family and to go to the Big Country Bash with my friend Emily. I was going to work in Des Moines on Monday, but Brent told me he missed me and asked me to come home Sunday night. I missed him too, so I decided to come home.

I got home about 10pm, and I called Brent while driving down our gravel road to asking him to bring some shoes outside for me because mine got all muddy at the country concert. When he came outside to bring me my shoes and help carry in my bags, he had this cute puppy in his arms.

Brent had been planning to suprise me all weekend. Sunday morning, Brent and his younger brother Curt drove to Corning, IA to meet the family we bought Wrigley from. Wrigley is orginally from the Mt. Ayr area.

Wrigley is sleeping in our back porch for a few weeks until he gets big enough and used to being outside all the time. He WILL be a farm dog. That means he will be outside 99% of the time. Today was his first day outside without supervision. He played in the mud, slept alot, and did his usual puppy business since 7am and is still going strong outside. We will bring him inside tonight when it gets dark so he can go to bed.

Tomorrow we are heading to the Harlan softball game to watch our friend Malissa play. Malissa has been telling Brent for months that we needed a dog, so she is excited to meet Wrigley! We are hoping Wrigley can handle the crowd.

Here are a few pictures of Wrigley:

Weed or Plant? That is the question...

Many of you have been asking for an update on the vegetable garden, and I have good reason for withholding from you. You see, for a long time, I just wasn't sure which were weeds and which were veggies. Shameful, I know. I certainly didn't want to pull up my tender shoots of life. And so the story goes...

To make a long and very muddy story short, I've finally weeded my tomatoes, onions, jalapenos, and sweet peppers. I am starting to feel like a vegetable garden failure. But since this is my first year, I am cutting myself some slack.

Since the garden was full of so many weeds, Brent used the tiller to get rid of them

These are either my jalapenos or my sweet peppers (I can't tell)

Onions

Tomatoes

So there you have it my sad little veggie garden!

Under Construction

sorry for the inconvenience...my Gmail was hacked into and when I deleted that account ... YEP deleted my blog too. Just be glad you don't live with me because Brent is feeling the pain of my frustration! Hopefully we'll have things back to normal by the end of this weekend!
